MyOLYMPUS Privacy Notice

1. Who provides MyOLYMPUS

MyOLYMPUS is provided by Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG, with registered offices at Wendenstraße 14-18, 20097 Hamburg (“Olympus”, “we”, “us”). Further contact information is available here.

Olympus takes the protection of your personal data seriously. The following provisions inform you about how we protect your personal data, why we collect and use this data and what rights you have in relation to your data.

2. What is MyOLYMPUS? 

MyOLYMPUS is an internet service available under the domain https://my.olympus-consumer.com/ and, as the case may be, other domain names and as a mobile application, including all its features and functions (hereinafter "Service" or "Website"). You may create a personal account which will support you to manage the different services you can register for, such as product registration, promotions, newsletter subscription and other future services. Please refer to our Terms of Use if you want to learn more about our use of your data. 

3. What data is collected? 

During the registration process, the following information must be provided: 

  • Salutation: This is necessary to correctly address you in e-mails and other communications.
  • First and last name: This is necessary to correctly address you in e-mails and other communications.
  • E-mail address: Providing an e-mail address is necessary to open an account on our Website because it is used for creating and confirming your account and for staying in contact with you. If you subscribe to our newsletter this is where we will send it to.
  • Country: By providing this information you help us to show you only information and activities that are relevant in your country
  • Language: By providing this information you help us to communicate with you in the language you understand best
  • Password: This is necessary to protect your account against third persons logging into it. Please keep your password secret from others.

In the account settings and on certain websites you can also provide other profile information such as:

  • Street; postal code and city: If you participate in a promotion we need your postal address to send the promotion article to you.
  • Region: By providing this information you help us to show you information and activities that are relevant in your region only
  • Phone number: If you order in our Online Shop a phone number enables us to contact you in case any question comes up with your order.
  • Fax number: If you order in our Online Shop and cannot provide a phone number as contact possibility please provide a fax number.
  • Birthday: Information is used for allocation to a certain age group as well as communications and promotions.
  • Company: Information will be used to address you correctly in case you approach us as a company

4. What is the data used for? 

OLYMPUS stores your data to: 

  • manage your product registrations and connect them with your account
  • offer special promotions
  • manage your newsletter subscription

5. For how long do we store your data? 

We store your data for the entire period for which you are a registered user of MyOLYMPUS. If you terminate your user account, your personal data will be deleted. Statutory obligations to retain data remain unaffected. 

6. Terminating your MyOLYMPUS account 

You can withdraw your consent for the Service registered for at any time and with future effect by logging into my account and choosing “Remove Account”. 

Please note that with this step all information connected with your account will also be deleted like product registrations you may have entered. 

7. Cookies 

MyOLYMPUS uses "cookies" (short entries in a special data directory on your computer for exchanging information between MyOLYMPUS and your internet browser). The system uses session "cookies" which become invalid when you exit the platform. The session cookies temporarily save a session ID, for example to identify you as a user on the platform. This ID is also used to recognise you again when you re-access the platform so that you do not have to re-enter your password every time you open a sub-page during a session (if you choose this option during login).

8. Adobe Analytics

This Website uses the web analytics service Adobe Analytics provided by Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited, 4-6 Riverwalk, City West, Business Campus, Dublin 24, Ireland. This Service uses cookies to help Olympus analyse how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the Website includes your IP address. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; for instructions on how to do this please visit the browser manufacturers’ website.

9. Social network plugins

When registering an account for our Website, you can choose to do so by connecting your Facebook account with our Website. During registration as well as when logged into our Website, information about your use of our Website will be directly transferred to Facebook. We have no influence on the data gathered by Facebook. If you are logged into the social network, your use of our Website can be referenced to, and automatically show in, your Facebook account.

10. How can I see which version of the user agreement I agreed to?

During the registration process you can print out and/or save the user agreement to your computer. You can also send an e-mail to camera.support.uk@olympus.eu and we will provide you with a copy of the version you agreed to. 

11. Your rights and more information 

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information that we hold on you and to have any errors in that information corrected. Please address your request to the data protection manager at data.protection@olympus-europa.com. We will use reasonable efforts to supply, correct or delete personal information about you on our files. Furthermore, you have the right to object to the use of your personal information at any time. Please inform us either by using our contact address or the e-mail address stated above.

The above provisions supplement and clarify Olympus‘s general privacy notice which is linked at the bottom of this Website. Insofar as the general privacy policy differs from the provisions above, the latter shall apply.
