What does “5 Years Total Extended Warranty” mean?

You will get in total 5 years warranty from the date of your camera purchase. This includes the applicable statutory warranty period (hereafter: "Extended Warranty"). 

How can I get the 5 Years Total Extended Warranty?

The Extended Warranty can be purchased in the OM Digital Solutions webshop.  

Which products are eligible?

All Olympus OM-D and OM SYSTEM branded OMD camera models purchased in OM Digital Solutions webshop or via an authorised OM Digital Solutions dealer within the European Economic Area including Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 

How do I activate the Extended Warranty?

You must activate your Extended Warranty prior to expiration of the statutory warranty period applicable in the country of your habitual residence in order for it to take effect.

Kindly follow the steps below:

1. Visit MyOlympus (my.olympus-consumer.com)

2. Register your OM-D body*

3. Use the code you received by email and follow the activation process

When does the Extended Warranty begin?

The activation of this Extended Warranty must be completed within the statutory local warranty period valid applicable in the country of your habitual residence. The granted warranty extension starts immediately after the expiration of the statutory warranty period applicable in the country of your habitual residence or immediately after the expiration of other guarantee/warranty periods, which may have been available within the scope of promotions.

When does the Extended Warranty expire?

It expires 5 years after the purchase date of the camera  product. If you have been granted an extension of the statutory warranty period or additional commercial warranty within a marketing campaign, the 5 years of this Extended Warranty are calculated to begin after the expiration of such additional warranty term, only if this is explicitly stated in the terms of the respective campaign. Otherwise, the period is calculated from the date of purchase of the camera  product. 

What do I have to do in case of damage or malfunction?

In case of malfunction, you should first call the designated hotline on 0080067108400*. The expert will provide you with instructions for how to send in your camera. If you are sending your camera for necessary repair work, please send the OM-D body excluding any lenses, memory cards or accessories.

All 00800-calls are free of charge. Some phone service providers do not permit access to 00800-numbers or require an additional prefix. Charges may apply here. Please contact your service provider directly for more details.

Terms and Conditions for “5 Years Total Extended Warranty” service for the Olympus / OM SYSTEM OM-D camera models

§ 1 Personal and Territorial Scope

The Extended Warranty can be purchased in the OM Digital Solutions webshop. The terms of this 5 years total extended warranty describes the prolongation of the statutory warranty period by way of an additional commercial warranty for the products defined below ("Extended Warranty"), which is granted by OM Digital Solutions GmbH, Domstrasse 10, 20095 Hamburg, Germany, (hereinafter also: "we", "us"). This Extended Warranty shall not limit in any way the customers' (free-of-charge) statutory warranty rights, which are applicable vis-à-vis the seller of the product.

The Extended Warranty is available for customers who meet the conditions set out hereunder. It provides a total warranty period of 5 years (the applicable statutory warranty period is included herein). The Extended Warranty is available under the following conditions:

  • Product is a Olympus/OM Systems OM-D camera model and meets the conditions as specified under § 3 of these terms and conditions and
  • Product is purchased via the OM Digital Solutions webshop or via an authorised OM Digital Solutions dealer within the European Economic Area including Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

§ 2 Content

Any complaints regarding incomplete, false or defective deliveries of Olympus/OM SYSTEM branded products can be asserted by all customers within the statutory warranty period vis-à-vis the seller of the product. This Extended Warranty does not constitute an extension of the statutory warranty period and rights but serves as an additional commercial warranty that grants the customer an extra warranty period up to a total number of 5 years counted as of purchase date of the respective product and as per the terms set out herein. If the customer has been granted an extension of the statutory warranty period within a marketing campaign, the 5 years of this Extended Warranty are calculated to begin after the expiration of such additional warranty term, only if this is explicitly stated in the terms of the campaign. Otherwise, the period is calculated from the date of purchase of the product.

The Extended Warranty does not affect the rights of the customer under the statutory warranty or any other commercial guarantee/warranty such as the "European Service Warranty". Any claims under the Extended Warranty may be asserted against OM Digital Solutions GmbH following the expiration of the applicable statutory warranty period or any other guarantee/warranty granted such as the "European Service Warranty", following the service procedures defined at the respective Olympus/OM System website. 

For the avoidance of doubt: During the statutory warranty period any warranty claims may be asserted against the respective seller without following such service procedures.  

OM Digital Solutions GmbH's sole liability under this Extended Warranty shall be limited to repairing or replacing the product. Any liability under the Extended Warranty for indirect or consequential loss or damage of any kind incurred or suffered by the customer due to a defect of the product, and in particular any loss or damage caused to any lenses, films, other equipment or accessories used with the product or for any loss resulting from a delay in repair or loss of data, is excluded. Moreover, OM Digital Solutions GmbH is not liable for any loss or damage to data stored on the product when providing the Extended Warranty service. 

This Extended Warranty does not cover the following defects (which may be repaired - upon customer's request - at charge):

  • Any defect that occurs due to mishandling (such as an operation performed that is not mentioned in the instruction manual, etc.);
  • Any defect that occurs due to repair, modification, cleaning, etc. performed by anyone other than OM Digital Solutions GmbH or an OM Digital Solutions GmbH authorised service organisation;
  • Any defect or damage that occurs due to transport, a fall, shock, etc. after purchase of the product;
  • Any defect or damage that occurs due to fire, earthquake, flood damage, thunderbolt, other natural disasters, environmental pollution and irregular voltage sources;
  • Any defect that occurs due to careless or improper storage (such as keeping the product under conditions of high temperature and humidity, near insect repellents such as naphthalene or harmful drugs, etc.), improper maintenance or repair;
  • Any defect that occurs due to exhausted batteries, etc.;
  • Any defect that occurs due to sand, mud, water etc. entering the inside of the product casing.

§ 3 Conditions

The Extended Warranty is only offered for Olympus/OM SYSTEM OM-D camera purchased via the OM Digital Solutions webshop or via an authorised OM Digital Solutions dealer within the European Economic Area including Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

This service is limited to a total of one Extended Warranty per product/serial number. In order to submit a claim under the Extended Warranty after the statutory warranty period has expired, it is mandatory that the customer registers his/her OM-D camera at MyOlympus (my.olympus-consumer.com).

Only after the product registration has been completed, the customer may claim any service under the Extended Warranty following the steps defined on the Olympus/OM System website. The activation of the Extended Warranty must be completed within the statutory warranty period at the customer's habitual residence. 

The customer has to deliver both the warranty card and proof of purchase of the Olympus/OM SYSTEM OM-D camera when sending in the product for repair or replacement. In case there is no reasonable relation between registered purchase date at MyOlympus and proof of purchase, OM Digital Solutions GmbH reserves the right to correct registered purchase date based on the proof of purchase provided by the customer. The warranty period and respective extensions will be calculated on the basis of the revised date of purchase.

§ 4 Applicable Law

These terms and conditions are subject to German law. The Vienna Convention (UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods of 11 April 1980) is not applicable. If you are a consumer, the application of mandatory legal provisions of the country of your habitual residence shall remain unaffected by the choice of German law.
