3 Years Extended Warranty” service for the Olympus OM-D models

NOTE: Due to the transfer of the Olympus imaging business with effect as of 1 January 2021, the imaging business will be seamlessly continued by OM Digital Solutions GmbH (press release: https://www.olympus-global.com/news/2020/contents/nr01839/nr01839_00000.pdf). This will not have any impact on Olympus' warranty obligations for products purchased prior to 1 January 2021. Olympus therefore remains the contractual partner for such obligations under this 3 Years Extended Warranty and OM Digital Solutions GmbH will process warranty cases for Olympus.

Terms and Conditions for “3 Years Extended Warranty”

1. Personal and Territorial Scope

The “3 Years Extended Warranty” service is available for sale to customers via the official distribution channels.

The offer to extend the warranty period is open for all customers from the following countries:

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Greece , Czech, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Bulgaria.

2. Content

Any complaints regarding incomplete, false or defective deliveries of Olympus products can be asserted by customers within a so called statutory or implied warranty period. Minimum requirements for that warranty period are laid down for EU member states in Directive 1999/44/EC on the certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees but ultimately it is the national law which determines the terms of the warranty and the length of the warranty period.

With this service, non‐commercial customers do have the opportunity to extend the statutory/implied warranty of their country on the same terms for additional three years beyond the date on which the warranty period would otherwise have expired.

In case the customer is entitled to other additional warranty extensions deriving from local law or other OM Digital Solutions (previously: Olympus)  campaign, the “3 Years Extended Warranty” service starts after expiration of these extensions.

The “3 Years Extended Warranty” does not affect the rights of the customer under the initial statutory/implied warranty or under any additionally granted manufacturer’s guarantee.

Any claims under the “3 Years Extended Warranty” may be asserted either against the dealer or directly against OM Digital Solutions GmbH  following the service procedures defined at the respective MyOlympus website.

3. Conditions

The “3 Year Extended Warranty“ service is only offered for Olympus OM-D models. This service is limited to one “3 Years Extended Warranty” per product.

Due to operational reasons to make this service effective it is mandatory that the customer is registering first his OM-D camera at MyOlympus (https://my.olympus-consumer.com/p/registration). Only after valid product registration, it is possible to activate the “3 Years Extended Warranty” service following the steps defined on the MyOlympus website. Before the activation is completed OM Digital Solutions cannot make the service effective.

The activation of “3 Years Extended Warranty” must be completed within statutory/implied local warranty period.

The customer has to deliver both warranty card and proof of purchase of the Olympus OM-D camera with the product in the event of repair. In case there is no reasonable relation between registered purchase date and proof of purchase, OM Digital Solutions   reserves the right to correct registered purchase date based on the proof of purchase provided by the customer. The warranty period and respective extensions will be counted from revised date of purchase.

4. Applicable Law

These terms and conditions and the contracts concluded within the framework of these terms and conditions are subject to German law. The Vienna Convention (UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods of 11 April 1980) is not applicable.
