VIENNA CITY GUIDE by VIENNA WEDEKIND
Vienna, the capital of Austria, is well known as the City of Music, beautiful architecture and traditional coffee
houses. BUT in the past years it has transformed into a modern city with lots of cool cafes and inspiring
places. I'm super proud of my city and happy to live here, that's why I wanted to share some of my Vienna
hotspots with you:

DISCOVER THE OLD VIENNA
Whenever I come back from my travels I love to stroll through the charming Inner City. THE GRABEN, one
the most famous streets in the first district, is full of historical buildings and the most beautiful shops. You
need to go to MEINL AM GRABEN (Graben 19), a traditional grocery store where you'll get the finest
Austrian Delicatessen. And even if you don't buy anything: This place is magical!

Almost around the corner you'll find JOSEPH BROT (Naglergasse 9), the best bakery on planet earth (and
I'm not kidding). Try a Mohnflösserl or a sweet Nusskipferl – you won't regret it! Then follow along the
TUCHLAUBEN, another famous street, and stop by at DUFT & KULTUR (Tuchlauben 17) if you love
scented candles as much as I do. Not far away you'll find one of my favorite fashion boutiques in Vienna,
INKED (Bauernmarkt 15), always worth a visit.

Close by you'll have a nice view of the ST. STEPHEN'S
CATHEDRAL (Stephansdom), the most famous sight in Vienna. If you prefer a nice overview over Vienna's
inner city, I recommend you to have a drink at the LAMEE ROOFTOP BAR (Rotenturmstrasse 15). The
view is breathtaking!

VIENNA'S HOTSPOTS
A definite must-see for every visitor is the NASCHMARKT, a vibrant market where you can buy fresh
vegetables, fish and herbs. There are also nice cafés & restaurants like the NENI, where you can order
healthy snacks and refreshments. Every Saturday the Naschmarkt FLEAMARKET takes place, one of the
best fleamarkets in Europe. Definitely a must for every vintage lover!

A few blocks away you'll find the famous KARLSPLATZ with the beautiful KARLSKIRCHE, which is by
far the most outstanding baroque church in Vienna. Every summer there is an OPEN-AIR CINEMA in front
of the church, where you can watch hand-picked movies for free.

I can also recommend you to take a walk along the WIENER RINGSTRASSE, just like Sigmund Freud
did. The Ringstrasse is a circular boulevard surrounding the historical city centre of Vienna. Along the 4km
walk you'll see the PARLIAMENT, the OPERA HOUSE and the BURGTHEATER as well as the
beautiful town hall and the HOFBURG. Note: Please don't take any Fiaker Rides, the famous horse
carriages, since the poor horses are being tortured and suffer from the cobblestones and summer heat.

ART & SHOPPING IN VIENNA
One of my favorite places to be is the 7th district called NEUBAU, one of the coolest and most inspiring
areas in Vienna. I recommend to start at the MUSEUMSQUARTIER and visit the MUMOK (Museum of
Modern Art) or the LEOPOLD MUSEUM. In general the Museumsquartier, or MQ as the locals say, is a
fantastic place to hang out. There are colourful plastic sofas everywhere and you can enjoy free lectures,
concerts and performances.

Near the MQ you'll find the BURGGASSE, a vibrant street with great shops and restaurants. Stop by at
DIE SELLERIE, my favorite gift shop. They sell lovely stationery, prints, books and pottery. More favorite
shops: COMERC, SOUBOIS and KAUF DICH GLUECKLICH, which are all quite close.

Need a break? Go to ERICH (Neustiftgasse 27) for a healthy Sweet Potato Bowl or Eggs Benedict. If you
prefer something more sweet, grab a yummy icecream (try Cookies!) at VEGANISTA. t's just around the
corner. After a long shopping day go to the nearby 25 HOURS HOTEL and enjoy a sundowner at the
DACHBODEN ROOFTOP BAR.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE
If you have some extra time make sure to visit the PRATER, a large public park in Vienna's 2nd district. It's a
lovely place for picnics and relaxing walks but you can also have lots of fun at the bespoke amusement park.
Another great place to hang out is the DONAUINSEL, where you can rent a bike or enjoy a dip into the
Danube. If you like to stay at the center, walk along the DONAUKANAL and enjoy a drink at the TEL
AVIV BEACH. Have fun!
