Picture of the monthWinner picture
The woman is an insignificant creature in comparison to the ocean, but an insignificant being causes irreparable damage to the fragile ecosystem. We have the duty to preserve the marine system because it contributes to more than half of the oxygen we breathe, besides being a source of wealth for the coastal countries.
I have chosen this photo because it meets the theme of the contest: the beauty of the ocean, it has a good composition, it is beautiful and has two of the main characters, the sea and the human being.
On this photo you can see the greatness of the sea in all its splendor, the clarity of the waters, the beauty of the rocks, the tranquility and strength that the ocean has at the same time, the sun that illuminates the scene and a woman who raises her arms as a sign of joy and gratitude for all that the sea brings us.
Preserve the sea, it is not an never-ending source of life, and pollution by plastics, acidification of the waters, uncontrolled dumping, abusive fishing, made many species endangered altering the ecosystem and contributing to climate change more than we can imagine. This is more and more evident every day .. We must raise awareness in the new generations that any ecosystem, however strong it may seem, is very vulnerable.
Contest's terms and conditions
There are few things as beautiful and impressive, yet mysterious, as the ocean.
Covering two-thirds of our planet it is an endless source of inspiration for humankind.
Sadly, we are discovering that it is also vulnerable to human impact. Fittingly and to mark “World Oceans Day”, we are highlighting the importance of conserving one of the earth’s most valuable natural resources. So for our current Picture of the Month Contest, show us the beauty of the ocean as you would like to see it preserved for future generations.
